Solving fuzzy transportation problems based on extension principle

چکیده
Transportation models play an important role in logistics and supply chain management for reducing cost and improving service. This paper develops a procedure to derive the fuzzy objective value of the fuzzy transportation problem, in that the cost coefficients and the supply and demand quantities are fuzzy numbers. The idea is based on the extension principle. A pair of mathematical programs is formulated to calculate the lower and upper bounds of the fuzzy total transportation cost at possibility level a. From different values of a, the membership function of the objective value is constructed. Two different types of the fuzzy transportation problem are discussed: one with inequality constraints and the other with equality constraints. It is found that the membership function of the objective value of the equality problem is contained in that of the inequality problem. Since the objective value is expressed by a membership function rather than by a crisp value, more information is provided for making decisions. 2002 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Using finite difference method for solving linear two-point fuzzy boundary value problems based on extension principle
In this paper an efficient Algorithm based on Zadeh's extension principle has been investigated to approximate fuzzy solution of two-point fuzzy boundary value problems, with fuzzy boundary values. We use finite difference method in term of the upper bound and lower bound of $r$- level of fuzzy boundary values. The proposed approach gives a linear system with crisp tridiagonal coefficients matr...
متن کاملSolving Fuzzy Solid Transportation Problem Based on Extension Principle with Interval Budget Constraint
The solid transportation problem considers the supply, the demand and the conveyance satisfying the transportation requirement in a cost-effective manner. This paper develops a method that is able to derive the fuzzy objective value of the fuzzy solid transportation problem when the cost coefficients, the supply and demand quantities, conveyance capacities are fuzzy numbers and additional const...
متن کاملMethods for Solving Fully Fuzzy Transportation Problems Based on Classical Transportation Methods
There are several methods, in literature, for finding the fuzzy optimal solution of fully fuzzy transportation problems (transportation problems in which all the parameters are represented by fuzzy numbers). In this paper, the shortcomings of some existing methods are pointed out and to overcome these shortcomings, two new methods (based on fuzzy linear programming formulation and classical tra...
متن کاملA model for the "Fuzzy TOPSIS" based on Zadde's extension principle
The TOPSIS process is one of the most comprehensive systems designed for decision making with multiple criteria, since this technique enables formulation of the problem as decision matrix, as well as the possibility of considering different quantitative and qualitative criteria in the problem. Fuzzy TOPSIS methods have been introduced to make fundamental decisions that make decisions decisions ...
متن کاملFuzzy decision in testing hypotheses by fuzzy data: Two case studies
In testing hypotheses, we may confront with cases where data are recorded as non-precise (fuzzy) rather than crisp. In such situations, the classical methods of testing hypotheses are not capable and need to be generalized. In solving the problem of testing hypotheses based on fuzzy data, the fuzziness of the observed data leads to the fuzzy p-value. This paper has been focused to calculate fuz...
